Finally got to try my hand in styling! I’ve always wanted to give this a shot– there are so many ideas in my head (and on Pinterest, too!), but I never got around to it, simply because I’m surrounded by uber-creative people. I usually back off because I get intimidated. Sounds familiar? Lol.
But when my sister-in-law Evette and Warren’s brother, Wendell, asked me to help her set-up the 1st birthday (and baptism) of the dear baby in our family, I just jumped into it! Anything for our dear baby Harvey Chase– the one who’s been driving us all crazy happy for the past year. He was born a week after our wedding, and has made our lives happier and more colorful.
A few weeks of planning the theme, preparing the invitations and buying stuff to style the venue is more fun than I ever imagined! Evette has so many great ideas, from the play of colors to the details and even Harvey’s outfit! Though we struggled a little as to where we can source out what we need, the power of the internet (everything’s online already, you just need to take time to research), a couple of trips to Party City and Michael’s, and a few items we found in our own homes and we’re finally complete.
It was a luncheon held at Payag, one of the popular Filipino restaurants here in Woodside. The place has great food and a festive ambiance, but we needed to make it look more nautical. One of the downsides of styling the place meant I won’t be able to join them in church for the baptism, but it was worth it– and I got loads of help from Warren and our mothers, and tita Nell, my sister-in-law’s mom. It felt so good because it was another family affair. They all skipped church so we can fix up the place in just an hour! Lucky me.
I’m so happy it turned out so nice and cute, and I can’t wait to do it again! Sharing with you some of our ideas and hope you can use them too! 🙂
